What are Chakras?

Chakras are the energy centers within the subtle body, according to various traditions originating from ancient India. The term "chakra" is derived from Sanskrit, meaning "wheel" or "disc," reflecting the circular, spinning nature associated with these energy points. There are commonly seven main chakras aligned along the spine, each corresponding to specific locations in the body.

Root Chakra (Muladhara)

Located at the base of the spine, the root chakra is associated with feelings of stability, grounding, and survival instincts.

Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana)

Positioned in the lower abdomen, the sacral chakra is linked to creativity, passion, and emotional well-being.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)

Found in the upper abdomen, the solar plexus chakra is associated with personal power, confidence, and self-esteem.

Heart Chakra (Anahata)

Situated in the center of the chest, the heart chakra represents love, compassion, and emotional balance.

Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)

Located in the throat region, the throat chakra is associated with communication, self-expression, and truth.

Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)

Positioned between the eyebrows, the third eye chakra is linked to intuition, perception, and spiritual awareness.

Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)

Situated at the top of the head, the crown chakra represents higher consciousness, connection with the divine, and spiritual enlightenment.

Each chakra governs specific aspects of physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Maintaining a balanced flow of energy through these centers contributes to overall health and harmony. Practices like meditation, yoga, and Reiki energy healing aim to align and balance the chakras for optimal vitality and spiritual growth.
